For pitching I'd go with Cy Young.
For hitting, I'd go with Hank Aaron.

No way Ryan is the best pitcher of alltime. Most dominate maybe, but not greatest. For pitcher I'd go with Walter Johnson and hitter you can't go against The Babe.

Babe Ruth was easily the best offensive ballplayer of all-time, and I would go with Walter Johnson as the greatest pitcher ever. But if you don't like to go that far back, you could go with more recent times, in which case I'd take Musial for hitting and Gibson for pitching.

Say hey? Are you forgetting all the other greats? Walter Johnson,Nolan Ryan, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gerhig, Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds or Randy Johnson? I'd say at least 3 of those are better than Mays.

Let me show you why he was better. Walter Johnson: Great pitcher, but, he's not even the best pitcher ever Mickey Mantle: Struck out a ton! So did Willie, but, Willie was 20X the defender mick was Lou Gerhig: Uh...nothing bad about him, Willie's just better Babe Ruth: Again, not the defender Willie was Barry Bonds: Steroids...need I say more? Randy Johnson: Are you fucking kidding me? Nolan Ryan: Close, very close. Willie had defense, speed, hit for average and tons of power. Edge: Willie

Nolan Ryan is overrated. He shouldn't even be up for discussion. As for Mays Vs. Ruth:
Ruth: 2503 Games 8399 At Bats .342 AVG .469 OBP .690 SLG 506 Doubles 136 Triples 714 Homeruns= a Homerun every 11.76 at bats OPS+ 207 123 SB= ?%
Mays: 2992 10881 .302 AVG .386 OBP .557 SLG 523 doubles 140 Triples 660 Homeruns= a homerun every 16.49 at bats OPS+ 156 323 SB= 79%
Mays had the better glove but Ruth was a better pitcher than Mays was fielder. Babe Ruth is hands down the better player.

Carson, exalt what you say! Finally, some1 who knows sports! How dare you say the 'Say Hey Kid' is better than the Bambino. (P.S. ruth's defense wasn't outta the ordinary, but his offense makes up for that)

Ryan was an overrated pitcher, period. He was purely a power pitcher, and he didn't have nearly the command that other greats had. Then considering what carson just said, Ryan just can't be discussed. Although he deserved the Hall of Fame, in no way can he be considered among the best pitchers of all-time.
And I'd say that the Babe, Gehrig, and Ted Williams were all better than Mays. But I take back Musial, because Mays was a tad better.

It's impossible to compare players from all the different era's. And there's been about 2 or three distict era's in baseball's history. All had different styles of play, and different factors from the equipment to the height of the mound to the sizes of the ballparks to the level of compeition. It's too hard to say deffinitively who was the best off ALL time. So forgive me if I can't say for sure who's the best. It's just too hard to tell fr sure.

Just go ahead and say that you think it's David Justice indy P.S. I think if Justice can catch on with the right team and get a few more steals, then...oh, never mind
