So Wright went down in the sixth inning today with a line drive to the collarbone area, and hopefully he won't miss too much playing time. If he does, we'll have Aaron Small who should fill in nicely. Just what we didn't need, a guy who's been pitching very well to possibly hit the DL again. Well, the Yankees did get the 4 game split with Seattle, so all in all, not a complete waste of a series.

Well tonight Al Leiter gets the ball in Oakland, squaring off against Dan Haren, who's had a very solid season. I'm just looking for Al to give us a decent outing, and hopefully we can keep the score close with at least three or four runs scored against Haren. And I'd also say that Oakland might have a slight edge in relief, so we'll have to get ahead before the last few innings roll around.

Aaron Small has been a big surprise. I remember him when he was a reliever for the Oakland A's back in the mid-late 1990's, and he wasn't that good. Then he disappears for several years, and now all of a sudden he's been the driving force in the pitching staff, since he's been called up. Just amazing.

Yeah, he's been a pleasant surprise, whether it's been as a starter or in middle relief. Hopefully he'll continue to be an important part of the Yankees team, and I'd like to see him pitching as an emergency starter/long reliever/middle reliever in 2006.

Well Leiter really blew up tonight, although I'd still pick him to start in the postseason over Wright.

Aaron Small was certainly dominant today. I'm really starting to think that he should be an important part of our team, from now until the end of October. It's hard to say why he's been so good out of nowhere, but he could be thinking that he's getting older and that if he wants to stay in the big leagues, he has to make an impression right now. And boy, is he impressing everyone.
And on a darker note, it's now possible that the Moose can be finished for the year. If he is, it isn't the end of the world, because Wang should return soon and some other guys have been pitching well, but it'd still strike a serious blow to our pitching staff.

Losing Moose would be terrible for the Yanks. I still think they could make the post season without him but I'm not sure how good they could do without him.

Pitchers seem to crumble when pitching for the Yanks...Perfect example is Randy Johnson. (and Leiter)

The Yankees tore up Zito tonight, hitting him up for six earned runs in three plus innings. They basically put into play the pitches in the strike zone, while they layed off pitches off the plate. First they hit a couple long balls, but then they started to eat away, little by little. Chacon stepped up tonight and tossed 6 2/3 strong innings, then handing it over to the bullpen. Bellhorn homered and drew a couple walks after putting up quality at-bats. Overall, a good night for the Yankees, as they win the series 2-1 and take a one game lead in the Wild Card.

The game seemed quite long for a 9-inning ballgame.

Last night, Giambi came through huge with a huge two-run home run in the 8th inning, to seal a 5-4 victory for his team. JWright started out slow, but he managed to hold down the DRays for the rest of the night. We had just enough to even up the series with TB, so now we'll see what Wang can do tonight. Hopefully he'll rebound well from his injury and play an important role during September.

Sucks that they lossed to T-Bay and the Indians won so I believe the Indians are now one game ahead for the wild card.

Yeah, I think the Yankees just have to start taking the DRays more seriously. TB has a pretty good young offense and is steadily improving, year by year. If they start giving games against TB a more serious effort, they'll be more successful.
And I was satisfied with Wang's performance tonight. He began a little shaky, and he wasn't his normal self throughout his game, but at least he held them down. It might take him another start or two to return to form, but it'd be worth the wait. I'm just happy to see him back.

A good win for the Yankees tonight. Small gave us exactly what we needed, and the offense hit Wells pretty hard. The story of the game was basically a bunch of runs for us, and a lack of runs for them. That Damon/Renteria play was laughable though.
So on to tomorrow, when Schilling faces Chacon. Until he gives reason to predict otherwise, I'm not expecting Schilling to have too much tomorrow. But I could be completely wrong. Chacon should give us a solid outing, as usual.

Chacon labored and didn't last too long. He just wasn't very sharp at all. Schilling, on the other hand, was very surprising and pitched a great game. Leiter came in and really didn't pitch too badly, although it didn't matter much. So tomorrow we just have to hope to win this series.

If we lose, I think we miss the playoffs

I wouldn't rule out the playoffs, but a loss tomorrow means that the AL East will really become a long shot. I still think we have a better team than Oakland or Cleveland.

Randy was certainly dandy today, while Wake was pretty unhittable as well. That was easily one of the best pitching duels I've seen all year. But fortunately the Yankees were on the winning end of a 1-0 nail biter, which wasn't so easy for Rivera to finish off.

BLOWOUT BABY!!! Payback against Tampa Bay tonight, for all the times they've beaten us lately. 17-3 as of now.

i'll be at the game thursday night booing the crap out of raffy and his steroid loaded butt.
my pastor is taking me and a couple of guys from church. our goal is to be so obnoxious that we get on tv. how cool would that be - pastor, pastor's intern, and 2 youth leaders make the big screen due to obnoxious behavior.
hopefully no elders will be watching.
;D
